Install Singular 3-1-4 on a Mac OS X Platform

You can either install Singular using available tarballs, or based on a fink installation.

Tarball Installation

One option to install Singular on your Mac OS X 10.5 intel is to download the two tarballs below. Further information concerning this installation type can be found here.

Fink Installation

Alternatively, Singular for Mac OS X 10.3 and 10.4 is available via the fink project which aims at bringing the full world of Unix Open Source software to Darwin and Mac OS X.

  1. Singular-3-1-4-share.tar.gz

Ideally, after installing fink, type in a terminal:

fink selfupdate

fink install singular singular-doc

 

Legacy Mac OS X 10.4 ppc Installation

Note that this installation type applies only for users of Max OS X 10.4 ppc, who are able to use Singular 3-0-3 or older releases, only.
The files corresponding to the above tarball installation are Singular-3-0-3-ppcMac-darwin.tar.gz and Singular-3-0-3-share.tar.gz. Likewise, detailed instructions regarding the fink-based installation can be found here. Moreover, if available, an installation from CD is possible. Please refer to this readme file.
