@heading Installation preliminaries

@sc{Singular} is a CYGWIN package on MS Windows. You can install it
with the Cygwin Installer (Net Install):
For a minimal installation, the following set of packages is recommended
to be chosen when the Cygwin package browser comes up:

@item - singular-base, singular-share, singular-help, singular-icons;
@item - rxvt.
@end itemize
These packages can be complemented by the following, in order to install a full version
supporting - among other additional features - the use of @sc{Singular} under (x)emacs and
@sc{Singular} Surf:

@item - emacs-X11, xemacs-sumo,
@item - xorg-server, xinit.
