Error when building: cannot find install script in build-aux directory

Description

When running ./configure before compiling, I get the error

==> Starting build()... configure: error: cannot find install-sh, install.sh, or shtool in ../build-aux "."/../build-aux ==> ERROR: A failure occurred in build().

Aborting...

The build-aux directory is empty.
